Tape Aging

A tape machine that ages while you play. Start clean, then let “wear” build over time: saturation thickens, the low end bumps, pitch wobbles, highs soften, and occasional tape ghosts appear. Freeze the wear at a sweet spot for performance, or reset back to pristine. Drive adds tape-style saturation and a low “head-bump” that grows with wear. Wobble adds slow wow and fast flutter using tiny delay modulation; as the tape ages, it gets deeper, less stable, and wider in stereo. High wear introduces subtle dropouts and faint pre-echo “print-through,” plus a warmer, more compressed feel over long sessions.
Knob Controls:
- Drive – tape saturation amount (wear adds asymmetry and head-bump).
- Wobble — wow/flutter depth and stereo instability (flutter becomes more present as you turn it up or as wear increases).
- Entrophy — sets how fast the tape ages and caps the maximum wear level.
Footswitch controls:
- Short press – Tape Age control. Scroll through CLEAN → AGING → FROZEN → AGING (start aging, freeze, resume).
- Long press – Reset to CLEAN (smooth ~80 ms fade)
