Fiocz: Sampling his Bike

"How about granulating the sound of a road bike chain?"

“Working with modular, I’ve developed an obsession for random musical events and glitchy musical phrases. I like the idea of letting the machines express themselves and just enjoy listening. Sometimes I just let an auto generative patch go for hours like some sort of radio in the background and (rarely) I hit the rec button, whenever something catches my attention up.

What I really like about the Polyend Tracker is this “fill” and “random” approach.  You can come up with great ideas in a blink of an eye or add a constantly changing random FX value so your groove will keep on evolving. You can easily create a track which sound never repeats itself.

Therefore, I’ve taken my Bianchi road bike and I’ve sampled the hell out of it, and thanks to the tracker synth-sampling engines I’ve come up with some abstract rhythm straight away.”

“My name is Andrea, I’m Italian but I’ve been living in Switzerland for about 17 years. In Zürich, I pursue my interests, making musical glitchy noises and riding my road bike in the mountains. I’ve been making noises, accidents, and auto generative disasters with my modular synthesizers for many years under the name of Fiocz.”
